London is now one of the most visited capital cities in the world and has something to offer everyone. Steeped in a rich history that boasts some of the most important figures in art, commerce and travel the city is a must visit destination for anyone with an interest in history but also has much more to offer than just Kings and Queens.
Whatever your particular reason for visiting London, whatever your requirements from a trip to the capital there are venues in London that can help you make the most from your visit.
With a cosmopolitan mix of people London can boast some of the finest restaurants in the world with menus from every continent. There are many venues in London for the visitor wishing to sample some of the culinary delights that are on offer.
Mayfair is perhaps the best place in London for fine dining with many famous and award winning restaurants including Le Gavroche with its French cuisine and The Greenhouse that serves modern European cuisine. Mayfair also has some of the finest venues in London including The Westbury on Bond Street.
Theatre has always been a large part of the fabric of London society and that is no different now than it was in Shakespeare’s day. Whether it’s serious drama from the best contemporary writers you’re after or the latest big budget musical, London has it all. And of course there are the classics.
The West End is the place to be for most stage performances and it has some of the busiest venues in London as a result. MWB The Strand is next to Charring Cross Station and close to some of the most well known theatres in the city including The Criterion, Aldwych Theatre and The Prince Edward Theatre.
Tate Modern, the former power station on the banks of the River Thames s now one of the most visited places in the country. For anyone with an interest in art or even for those with a desire to see and do something slightly different; larger than life, Tate Modern is a must.
Tate Modern is a good place to start a trail of London galleries and museums in search of classical and modern art and there are several venues in London that are worth considering if that is the case. The Regus London Strand hotel in Covent Garden is ideally located in the heart of one of the capital’s busiest and liveliest areas while at the same time being close to The National Gallery and County Hall Gallery.
London now has some of the most spectacular attraction in the world including The London Eye near Westminster Bridge. It is now synonymous with London in the same way that The Eiffel Tower is with Paris and The Statue of Liberty with New York. It’s also a great location to base yourself for a sightseeing tour of London and there are some incredible venues in London that take this into account.
The City Inn Westminster is an ideal base for some of London’s top tourist attractions. As well as The Eye, Buckingham Palace is close by with Hyde Park and The Serpentine not far from that. With Pimlico and Westminster tube stations not far away all of the top tourist attractions are within reach.
Of course London has some of the best shops in Europe. There’s the world famous Harrods with its promise to be able to get you anything you ask for. There’s also Harvey Nichols and Hamleys. A range of venues in London cater specifically for people wishing to visit the capital for a shopping experience.
The Millennium Hotel in Knightsbridge is close to the best designer label shops that the city has to offer and is also ideally placed for Hyde Park and The Royal Albert Hall, one of the best known arts venues in the world and home each year to the Proms performances.

Brighton England What To See In Brighton
By Joseph Carducci
The resurgence of Brighton as a tourist center has brought renewed life to this area. With it’s recent voting as England’s trendiest city, it seems that the nickname of London on the Sea is well-deserved.
The first thing someone should see in Brighton is the Royal Pavilion. This was rebuilt during the 19th century by architect John Nash. There is a unique Indian flair to this building. There are also a number of green-lawn gardens surrounding the Pavilion. Despite the Indian-style onion domes on the outside, the inside looks to have more of a Chinese influence. It is quite a sight and well worth the admission fee (about 8-9 GBP), however, no flash photography is allowed inside. This is also a very popular setting for weddings, and many couples come here just for that purpose.
Also visit the Brighton Pier. This is a bit like Coney Island in the States, but more chic. There are several bars and lots of food stalls along the pier. There is even an amusement park with all kinds of rides and things to do. This would be great fun for kids as well as adults. Prices can be a bit high here, so if you are on a budget, just be careful! If you want to sample everything, the most economical way is to buy a pass (it is still around 20 GBP per person, not sure what the child price is). There are plenty of photo opportunities here as well, looking out to sea.
The Volks Railway is a great time for everyone. It is possibly Great Britain’s oldest electric railway. The price is reasonable also (2-3 GBP). The ride is about 1.5 miles long, running from the Brighton Palace Pier to the Marina.
The Lanes is the shopping district of Brighton. It is a relatively small area, however, you can find almost anything here! It is an area encompassed by 3-4 roads, and most of the items for sale could be classified as quirky or quaint or eclectic. There are also some good places to eat in this area. Many people I have spoken with say this is there favorite place in the world to shop!
Brighton Beach is also highly recommended and rated by travelers. It is a nice place to walk along and watch the beautiful sunsets. It is not far from the Lanes and several places to eat as well. There are also many seagulls that you can watch. Be warned, though, it is a pebble beach (not sand)! Still a nice walk.
St. Anne’s Well Garden and Cafe is a beautiful place with a great cafe and staff. In fact it has won England’s Green Flag Award, which is given to the best parks and green spaces across the country. Simply a great place to visit, look around and eat. Not to be missed.
There is so much to see and do in Brighton and Hove that it is impossible to give more than a taste here. Please, visit this area. It is highly recommended.
